How it all began...

Welcome to the Daisy Ribbons blog!  This is where I intend to show you fabulous ways to wear and use your ribbons, talk about upcoming events, and perhaps even share a tutorial or two.

First, a little background....

My name is Kelley, and I am the mother of 4 adorable children (3 boys [11, 9, and 6 years old] and 1 girl [3 years old]) and the wife of my sweetheart, Jon.  I completely adore my boys, but I never gave up hope that I'd get a girl.  I knew that if she ever came, she'd be well-decorated since I have loved to craft and create ever since I can remember.  Well, 3 years ago she finally came, and my prediction has turned out to be correct!

I started making hairbows for her when she was about 5 months old.  It quickly became an obsession, and I soon had way more than she could possibly wear.  That's how my first bow business began.  At the time, I did the typical ones - lots of boutique bows and silk flowers, but, in the summer of 2010, I decided that I didn't want to be like all the other hairbow vendors out there.  I wanted to be something different.

I had already toyed with the idea of each of my different hairbows, but I hadn't focused on perfecting any of them yet.  That summer, as I played around with some new ideas and came to the realization that something different was needed, I realized that all of these possibilities had a theme, a garden theme.  Daisy Ribbons: Fanciful Accessories Inspired by the Garden was born!

In the ensuing year, lots of good things have happened.  The business has grown from a small box of ribbon that I pulled out occasionally to an operation taking over most of my living room.  I've gone from making them all myself to having to train 26 people to help me.  These bows have gained more and more popularity, and now they are sold in shows both large and small, in a brick and mortar store, and on the web.  God has truly led me on this journey, and for that I am very grateful.

And yes, my daughter continues to be well decorated... at least when she leaves the bows in her hair!
