Have a question about our ribbons? Find the answer here. How big are these bows? TOP
These are handmade items, so there will be slight variations, but these are accurate approximations:
1. Zinnia - 2 3/4" across 2. Daylily - 4" across 3. Daisy - 3" across 4. Bumblebee - 2" long by 1" wide 5. Butterfly - 3" wide by 2" long 6. Calla Lily - 2 1/2" long 7. Ladybugs - 2" long by 1" wide
This is how big they are in comparison to each other:

Clips look very nice when they have been lined with ribbon that matches the bow. Sometimes the clip is partially lined, and sometimes it's fully lined. Ours are partially lined because we have found that the extra ribbon on the fully lined clips prevents the clips from sliding smoothly into the hair, especially if using an elastic. The partially lined clips have a much cleaner look, too, in our opinion.
To combat the problem of the clips slipping out when using a partially lined clip, we have added a no-slip strip that works very well. How do you keep the ribbons from slipping out of hair? TOP
We use a very special foam strip on the inside of all our alligator clips (the French barrettes don't need them) to prevent the ribbons from slipping out of even the finest hair. As long as there's enough hair to clip onto, the ribbon should stay put pretty well - though we cannot guarantee that your little one won't try pulling it out on her own. :) Are these ribbons durable enough for little ones to wear them regularly? TOP
While making bows for our little girls, we discovered that taking the extra time to carefully hand-sew the ribbons made for a long-lasting, durable hair bow. Also, we use the highest quality ribbon we can find, and heat-seal the ends to prevent fraying.
These ribbons have been kid-tested, and even though they may be pulled out, smashed under a carseat, left in a puddle on the bathroom counter, or even dumped in a dark corner of the toybox for days at a time, they'll stay together (we don't recommend all this, though). However, some glue is used in the final assembly, so we don't suggest letting them go through the washer and dryer. Also, we don't recommend leaving them on the dashboard of your car in the summer. The glue may melt and make a mess of your bows. Are the ribbons washable? TOP
Yes, thank goodness! My daughter threw one of them in a mud puddle today, and it took me a while to figure out where it had gone!
We do not recommend that these ribbons go through the washing machine. However, since we know that kids can be a bit hard on things (as my daughter so kindly demonstrated), if the ribbons become soiled, you can gently hand-wash them with a mild detergent (if needed) and let them air-dry.
The ribbon from the mud puddle has cleaned up and dried out nicely, and will live to see another day. How can I convert these flowers and bugs into pins to use as accessories on garments? TOP
The quickest, easiest way to convert a flower or bug into a pin is to stick a safety pin through the garment from the underside, so that all you see from the right side of the garment is the bar of the pin. Then you just clip the bow onto the bar.
We recommend that you stabilize lightweight fabrics or knits so that the pin doesn't pull through or leave a hole. The best way to do that is to use just a bit of ribbon or stiffer fabric on the underside of the garment, and pin through that. This will provide stability for the fabric. Do you do custom orders? TOP
Absolutely! We do this all the time. If you see a style here you like, but it's not in the color you want, please send us a message from the "Contact Us" page, and we will happily make whatever you are looking for. How long will it take for me to get my order? TOP
We try to get orders out as quickly possible, but since these ribbons are made to order, please allow 2-3 weeks upon receipt of payment for your order to get to you. For large orders ($100 or more), additional time may be required.
If you need your order quickly, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
